Firestorm

Briefing

Star Commander Shaghran, still loyal to the Matriarch Empress of Daruz, was dissatisfied with the lack of a true Genari capital ship. His observations on his subordinate captains' encounters and his one time experience losing a drawn out battle against a Montana-class Sol cruiser pressed the Genari high command for a true cruiser of their own. The plans for a light cruiser had already started, but he wanted something bigger, and 'invincible' like the Montana. His influence encouraged the Empress of Daruz to put a tremendous amount of resources on a new capital-class shipyard orbiting the planet. Five years later, the first of its kind, the massive Firestorm Cruiser was launched. It matched the Montana in armor, force field, and weapon hardpoints, but also added a series of the latest and most advanced fission warheads ever built. The FW-9 had incredible range for a missile weapon, and tremendous damage potential. Altogether, the triple heavy beam and heavy fission weapons could do enough damage to take out a Sol destroyer. It became Shaghran's command ship, and proved to be incredibly successful in every engagement, winning many regions and acquiring several dozen warship kills. Unfortunately for Shaghran, his dream of meeting another Montana face-to-face never happened, but every Genari captain does wonder to this day what ship would come out ahead if they ever did meet.
