Until SY 2165, the Matriarchy had never considered a repair tender to be of real use in combat -- that is until it was seen as part of Sol Naval fleets. The effectiveness of these support ships reduced the attrition rate of Sol ships invading Genari space. After the capture of a few Elbe light tenders and one Klondike repair tender, Genari engineers built one of their own. Taking both a light and medium repair bay stolen from the Elbe & the Klondike, the first Genshai repair tender was built. It could repair 50% faster than the Klondike, and had heavy armor plating making it tough to destroy. The twin fission warheads also keep enemy ships at bay. The sheer weight forced a smaller engine mount however, so it is a rather slow ship, and all systems need to be powered down if running in full repair mode.
