Leviathan

Briefing

The Leviathan was conceptualized for one purpose: To take the strategic star system of Vega, which Sol has perpetually used as a staging point for invasions deep through Genari space. The Matriarchs believe as long as Vega remains under control of the Sol Imperium, Saneth is vulnerable. This Dreadnought was delayed countless times, as it seemed impossible to build and propel a warship of this size and complexity -- Genari fission and laser technology could not catch up to the desire to build larger and larger warships. It took several trials on the Starfire heavy cruiser type II to perfect its three FHD-12 drives, and four seemed to be a daunting task. but once Genari scientists and engineers were successful, the rest of the dreadnought came together over time. The Leviathan bears its likeness to the giant sea dwelling creature that used to live on Saneth's oceans, with its eight tentacles, attacking and taking down early seafaring Genari ships. It played a large part of the Genshai mythology, but has since gone extinct due to excessive hunting by glory seekers of the industrial age. Besides the way the Dreadnought looks, its armor is nearly as high as the bases it would attack, and supports an incredible complement of twelve weapon hardpoints. The massive arms were more than for looks however; it purposely created a stabilization effect giving the Leviathan enhanced accuracy on all weaponry. Any enemy short of a heavy cruiser best stay clear of this ship.
