Tortuga

Defense platform - Class 8 - Missile Defense Platform

Real-time render from the game model

Briefing

Found throughout the Helix Nebula, these defense platforms are hidden on purpose, and will turn on any warships that do not have New Terra registration codes. They will not fire on defenseless freighters and couriers however. They are also used to help navigate through the dense nebula. Armed with four station missiles, they can deter individual frigates and destroyers on their own, but their strength is in their numbers, with at least a dozen known to be hidden in the region.
