The Barge

Briefing

There have been many pirate commanders who have risen to power, through internal politics, cross border trade, and raiding outside the helix. But the most powerful, wealthiest and perhaps most eccentric of them all is a gentleman named Alfonso Berlusconi who runs several shipyards orbiting New Terra. He even helped finance the construction of New Providence itself. He never captained a ship, nor does he want to -- but he aspires to build new and unique constructs that in his mind, will eventually keep New Terra and the Helix safe. He fears that one day invasion is inevitable from either the Sol Imperium or Genari Empire once they've overcome their conflict against each other. It might even be a race to see who ends up owning the Helix first. Without the shipyards to build battleship-class warships, he had to come up with his own resourceful designs based on what he had. The Swordfish destroyer, with its compartmentalized superstructure and old architecture could be repurposed for such a thing. Mating two of these destroyers allowed for a larger Cruiser-class warship to be built; heavily armored and capable of mounting some of the largest weaponry available. Thanks to Commander Zueiter and his access to Ma'Alaketh technology, a series of four PAB-8 particle cannons were mounted on each superstructure mount. This made it capable of delivering similar amounts of firepower as an Archon heavy cruiser. Instead of utilizing the remaining port and starboard areas for weapons systems, repair bays were put in their place. This flagship of the Free Peoples' of Sol now can deliver serious firepower on any intruder entering the Helix, and hold up its own even against a Sol or Genari battleship.
