Archon

Briefing

Nova Commander Khomauyn's assault with his Great Wing heavy cruiser into Ma'Alaketh territory proved that the Genari (and potentially Sol Imperium) were becoming more technologically advanced. They were not as afraid of the impervious Ma'Alaketh borders as in the past, and were testing Ma'Al defenses with their newer, more powerful super capital ships. Their 60-year war was starting to spill over into Ma'Alaketh territory, and the Ma'Al command cruisers may not have the decisive advantage they once had. The Ti'imenalla (Astral) cruiser suddenly found itself outmatched by the Great Wings' four extended range beams and armor that gave it more than twice the strength of the Astral's superstructure. A larger, heavy cruiser platform was needed as a counter; and the Archon was quickly introduced into the Ma'Alaketh fleet, ready to be deployed against any intrusion by Sol Imperial or Genari capital ships. The three Astral Cruiser particle beams were upgraded to Type 10 variants, the strongest available in the Ma'Al arsenal. The ship itself was widened in superstructure to support an additional four heavy plasma beams, and the shields were upgraded to a more powerful variant of the Consul's shields. Armor was improved by 50%. This ship might be a little less maneuverable than the Astral cruiser, but it dramatically improved on its offensive and defensive capacity.
