For nearly a century, Ma'Alaketh top Advisors did not see a need for a ship larger than the Ti'Menaala cruiser, as it was there was no opposition that could threaten such a ship. With advancements of Sol and Genari in their endless war, the Archon heavy cruiser was developed to meet that new level of technological superiority. And so at the time, there was no need to design a dampening field for anything larger than a cruiser. A lot has changed since... Shrouding a warship of a near-1 million ton warship with a fully functional dampening field was a technological marvel when it first was introduced, but now there are a few in service, considered to be the most powerful of the shadow-class warships. The massive power drain on the engines is very significant however, seeing nearly 20% reduction in engine output compared to the Archon, as well as weaker structural integrity overall. The Cosmos has never been tested in battle, at least not against a hostile capital ship; but most Advisors conclude that it would have a significant advantage over both Sol and Genari variants.
