While the Archon heavy cruiser was being rushed out as a countermeasure to increasing Genari aggression, a more well thought-out, true superheavy capital ship was in the works in the S'Uunemilara shipyards. Though the Ma'Alaketh Confederation had no interest in participating in the Genari/Sol Imperium arms race, they wanted a proper deterrent and show of force. In case those aggressive races decided to bring their battleships, the Sovereign would make them realize that attacking with their best ships was still futile. Built from the ground up, this massive ship mounts ten heavy weapon hardpoints, delivering just as much firepower as a Nova Battleship but at extreme range. Add to this firepower is the most powerful ship-based tier 5 force fields protecting the Sovereign, and greatly enhanced superstructure. When this ship came online, there was evidence of even bigger dreadnoughts being launched by Sol & Genari -- but after studying the specs on those ships, Ma'Alaketh Advisors determined that the Sovereign is still stronger.
